I can't be more pleased.

Hi Wei Yeow

You did a good job on your story. What works: the main character is developed well and is likeable. He's easy to relate to and sympathise with. The emotions are believable and the humour is natural. The format you've chosen suits your story. The ending works: it's not a cliffhanger, it's a very clear ending.

What doesn't work: development of why he likes the girl is not clear. It's too sudden especially since he first said she wasn't interesting. Then very soon after, he likes her.

If you can write like this, you should have been writing like this throughout the course. I'm glad you finished the assignment on time and you've created an engaging and entertaining story.

Cheers,
Ms Cheng

Especially after having done this overnight, despite being given a 4-month period to do the assignment.

Clogged Pores

So, I lied about going to Italy. Nobody is going to believe that anyway.

In other news, my new job pays way lesser. Makes my already weather-beaten face oily as hell. Is located inconveniently.

And I am beginning to enjoy it.

Pizza?

Off to Italy for a week. Will be back.

Something Different

Never liked KPOP, but never really gave myself a chance to like it either. Perhaps it's time I try something different, and step out of my comfort zone.

She wins.

My heart and mind have been messing with me recently, and so I've decided to come up with a table to help me analyse some issues regarding affairs of the heart. After all, I am an Engineering student, and tables are supposed to be my thing.

This has also led me to wonder, how long can a person keep another in his head (and the heart)?

CarbonVSVanadium
Wears glasses. Slightly longer than short hair, sometimes in a ponytail. Natural hair colour. Not a face that screams 'LOOK AT ME' but pleasant-looking.
AestheticsHas perfect eyesight, or wears contacts. Short hair. Hair colour: Red. Was brown before. Had been blonde. Cute.
At work.
Where I Met HerDuring CDS class.
Nerd.
First ImpressionCute, colourful.
Independent. Smart. Confident. A thinking person.CharacterColourful and bubbly. Quite clever too.
Has her on Facebook and Skype. Doesn't use twitter.
Social Networking MediaHas her only on twitter.
Wide genre, tendency to stray from mainstream. Jazz. Indie.
Choice of MusicMainly K-pop.
Plays the piano, trumpet , guitar and the ukulele. Speaks French.
Special SkillsThink she plays the piano and guitar. Not very good with the latter though. Can draw pretty well.
Can't really tell. Heart just pumps like mad whenever she comes online. Stutters when I speak to her. Find her amazingly attractive.
Why I Think I like HerBecause she is my eye-candy in the CDS class. And she is cute.
Her confidence. Her smile, and especially her laughter (that loud, genuine burst of happiness that doesn't care about judgement). Her existence. What I Like About HerShe is cute.
Confessing.
Craziest Stuff I DidFollowing her on twitter.

Conclusion: Vanadium is the one I find more aesthetically pleasing, but the element that really brings me joy is Carbon. I can't really point out how that happens, but there's this thing about Carbon that really makes her adorable as a whole, not just physically.

End of Chemistry class.

Now if only I could form some compounds.

Valentine's

Here are some pixelated chocolates.

And a pixelated flower.

Now all I need are a colon and a parenthesis from her.

Before it turns blurry and faint.

Made my maiden trip to IKEA since I left. Still couldn't quite understand how I would quit such a flexible and decent paying job. Must have been a tad too impulsive back then. My access card still works, surprise surprise, and I sneaked into the office. Made my way to the lockers area, and had an invasion of memories. I remember the minutiae of how I would place a muffin in my locker, then had her retrieve it. Fond memories they were.

The muffins she adore that I still find unpleasant.

My original locker, #151, two spaces above her's.

Her locker, which I used after her departure. Couldn't stand another person occupying it, despite being only a 60 cm X 60 cm X 60 cm cube of space. That space belonged to her.

I would get a muffin from the staff canteen, wrap it up nicely and secure it inside my locker. Then, on a piece of paper I would write down my locker combination, together with some witty note, and slip it into her's. She would find the muffin after work, and have something to munch on.

I miss IKEA. I miss the co-workers. And I miss one particular girl who loves the cardamon muffins there and fell in love with TORVA Carrot.

I might have fallen for her.

Inability to Write

I am here because writing a short story on romance (my choice from a free genre), one involving me, is tougher than I gave it credit for.

How I Allowed a Lizard to Scare The Crap Out of Me

There I was, in the early hours of Thursday morning, facing the computer and trying to get some work done. I had a lab test later in the day at 9.30 a.m.

Then, that foul creature decided to show it's menacing face. I could swear it was grinning at me when I stared into its malevolent black orbs; fear and fatigue, but mostly shock shackling me in my chair.

When I composed myself (hardly), I ran.

Switching on the living room lights, I kept a distance of approximately 2 metres from the reptile. I wasted the night scrutinizing it's movement, in and out from under my keyboard (think I'll have to disinfect it). This arduous task (both me watching the creature, and it sneaking in and out from under the keyboard, taking occasional peeks at me) went on till about 4.30 a.m.

I fell asleep eventually, but also missed my test. Having not studied at all, no thanks to the foul creature, I doubt I could have passed anyway.

It's kinda sad the only person who could handle lizards in the family is my dad, and he was sound asleep when it decided to abandon its orthodox path along the walls and climb onto my keyboard instead.

To end this post, some quotes from my friends who think my phobia is a joke.

"Use hand catch only la." - Jun Ru

"What a pussy." - Kelvin

"You're mad. Just lift the keyboard and let it go away la. Lizard only. Go army good luck." - Teng Kiat

Over a Stinging Eye

Had a rather weird but pleasant dream. And oddly it involves people I didn't expect.

Woke up with a terrible pain in my right eye, which hasn't ceased to cause discomfort.
